The funny things kids say. . .

OK, gotta share this one.

My child gave me a true laugh today. At lunch, he was in his seat finishing his lunch as I ran downstairs to throw some laundry in. When I returned to the kitchen I noticed that Gavin had once again dumped his plate in the floor. I said "Gavin, does that make Mommy happy? NO". And he proceeds to say to me "well. . . clap your hands." And then goes further to SING the song to me ". . .happy and know it, clap hands, happy and know it, clap hands. . . "

Oh my word. . .I have a feeling we have a fun "childhood" ahead of us. . .

Wow. . where has this week gone?

This week has been a whirlwind and now it's gone! Where oh where does the time go??
Gavin has had a great week, busy, busy, busy. . .which is just the way he likes it!

Tuesday was school and then the afternoon with "BetBet" one of his favorite people. Then Wednesday he spent the day with Nanny (of course another of his favorite people) while Mommy went with some friends out of town (hospital/testing trip--not pleasure). Then today was school at our Church and that always brings great fun!

Few pictures to share this week:

We've quickly gotten over our "hangup" of not getting in the sandbox and we dive in every day! He loves his sandbox and asks to get in first thing most mornings:
On Tuesday we planted some seeds which we hope will turn into tomato plants and flowers!
We got this cute little kits at Target and I just gotta tell you about them. You get this dirt pellet that looks like this:
Now I may have lived a very sheltered life, but I had never seen dirt in hard pellets like this! I was amazed!! You add water to it and it becomes soil: Then we added the seeds and covered them up, watered and now we wait. Gavin has checked on them every day, sometimes 3-4 times a day! I sure hope they do something or he'll be quite disappointed!
Today was Donuts 4 Dads at school, so Daddy took the day off and came to school with us. It was great fun! Although Gavin was more interested in showing Daddy all his toys at school than sitting down eating a donut!
OK, I know I am picture overload, but I had to share these too. We got a phone call tonight from MeeMee Reese (Dave's Mom) at the end of dinner. Gavin had made himself quite comfy while chatting with his MeeMee. (Disclaimer: I know my child is filthy--he just came from the sandbox and although we washed his hands and face before dinner we elected to have bath after dinner (he had tacos!), he's much cleaner now--I promise!)

Music Class Video

Here's a link to a little video of Gavin at Music Class, it's hysterical!
OK, I'm completely new at sharing videos, I hope you can open it!

(He's the one with the white shirt on)

What a perfect day. . .

We had Gavin's music class this morning in which he dearly loves! He's been in this music class once a week since he was 6 months old and he talks about it all week long! Here's some pics from our class. Then we went to the park and had a picnic and played with Gavin's friend Ty. The boys loved the beautiful sunshine and fun park! Ty brought his dog and Gavin was just in love! He loves dogs so much! Thankfully Ninja (the dog) was VERY patient and good with kids!Wow--lots of pictures today!
Best part of today: Enjoying the beautiful sunshine with my precious boy and good friends!

Finally. . . more pictures

OK, I finally got the camera out again this weekend. I know, I've been slacking. . .

Saturday MeeMee Reese came up for the morning and we went to lots of yard sales. Got some good things for the Preschool Dept at Church, so it was a successful outing. Plus, we finished with breakfast at our local fave restaurant, and what could be better? Gavin's favorite thing to do when out for breakfast? Stack the jellies of course!
As all of you "locals" know we had a great weekend of beautiful weather here! THANK YOU LORD!! We all needed some sunshine! We got out some of the new summer toys and had a blast. Gavin rode his new Tractor today and loved every minute of it!

We really enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon in the beautiful sun! It was just right. . .

He's my outside boy. . .

We finished up the day with my birthday dinner at Mom & Dad's--it was great--pizza on the deck! Relaxing, cheap and Yummy!! And Gavin thoroughly enjoyed my b-day cake! Yummo!

Best part of the day: Being sung Happy Birthday to Mama by my sweet Toddler.

Happy Friday!

Sorry, sorry, sorry for the lack of posts this week. Again, this week has been a very crazy and emotional week with all going on at VT. All my "spare" time has been glued to the TV or internet getting updates and reading more about the College tragedy.

Gavin had a great day at "school" yesterday and his teacher said he was a GREAT listener. Now why he can't bring home those great listening skills is beyond me. Two is such a funny age. It's SO trying with learning boundries and how to deal with behavioral issues but it's a great age for discovering things and saying new phrases, etc.

Everyday literally everyday Gavin has a new phrase. This week his favorite one has been "Hi Mommy, how are yyyyyoooouuuu?" It's hysterical. And he's also discovered the color purple this week. Loves purple, and wants everything to be purple. Sorry blue, hopefully your day will come back around (at least his Daddy hopes so!)

We have a busy weekend planned. Lots to do tomorrow, so I'll be sure to bring the camera along and share some pics with you!

Best part of today: Went to visit a friend's new baby in the hospital and when we were leaving I said "Gavin, do you want a new baby to come home to our house one day?" and his response was "Eeeewwww, no Mommy, Babies is yucky!" Cracked me up.

Sorry to have missed a day or two of posting!

No good excuse really--yesterday was a horrible day.

The news of the tragedy at Virginia Tech had me in tears and glued to the TV most of the afternoon. I know you will all join me in prayer for those families of the victims and for the students, parents and faculty of Virginia Tech. It is such a great and honorable school and I am so saddened in what has happened there.

My little man is doing good. He had "school" today and did great! He absolutely loves it and has been singing "Ring around the Rosey" all afternoon. We've been falling down together and boy. . .he gets up faster than I do!

Best thing of today: Picking up my child from a morning away. Seeing that he was there, safe and sound and knowing that I am so blessed.

Come on Sunshine!

OK, we have had several days of rain around here and I am ready for some SUNSHINE!!

Seriously, if I can't get this Two year old out of the house to blow off some energy soon it's going to get ugly! He's so ready for spring, warm temperatures and sunshine so he can have "outside play"!!

We have lots of new things to do in our yard, including our new sandbox, a new tractor, a couple new balls, bubbles and more! We are all busting to get out and use them! Come on Sun!!

We had a busy day today, we went to Church, out to lunch, came home for Gavin's nap and Mommy & Daddy did some work around the house then back to Church! Well, Mommy & Daddy went back to Church--Gavin went and had some quality time with Nanny & PawPaw. Fun & busy times! Getting ready to start the week off tomorrow morning with Melody Makers and shopping with Granny Poff.

Best part of today: All three of us were pretty crabby today because of the dreary weather. But we did enjoy a quiet family lunch together. . .just the three of us and that was nice. I love it when it's just us three Gavin likes to do "roll call". He looks at us and says "Hi Mommy. Hi Daddy. Hi You." (You meaning himself) Yep, just making sure we're all there.

Clearly he got this from his Father. . .

Nothing says "style" like Pajamas and cowboy boots.

Happy Birthday Boys!

We were invited to our friends Marshall & Lisa's house tonight for dinner. They have adorable twin boys that will turn a year old tomorrow. We had a great time with them. The boys are so much fun and getting quite mobile! Gavin loves going over there and he just goes on and on about the babies when we leave. He loves that there are TWO of them!!

I forgot my camera. . . bummer! But I'll share these pictures they just had taken. They are precious!

Thanks Marshall & Lisa for a great evening!
Best part of the day: When coming home Gavin was singing (yet again) Jesus loves me and he sang "Jesus loves the BABIES yes I know, for the Bible tells me so. . ." it was too cute!

Come on Spring!

We had a taste today of warmer weather, but with the wind it was still rather cool.

We went on our weekly voyage to Target today. Gavin & Mommy's favorite place! Gavin goes for the popcorn, he starts asking for it as soon as we pull in the lot! I just love to go through and look at their cool stuff! And we left spending less than $40! A pretty successful trip!

Nanny & Paw Paw (my parents) came over tonight for dinner and their Easter Present "unveiling". They got Gavin a Sandbox and it was so funny on Saturday he was telling everyone that Paw Paw bought him a box! Of course, that's all he saw of it! It's just now today warm enough to set it up and we only played for a few minutes. Hopefully tomorrow we'll get to spend some time playing as well.

As you can see it's really neat with a picnic table and umbrella attached! Very cool Paw Paw & Nanny! Thanks so much!! xoxoxo

Best part of today: Having Gavin sing "Jesus Loves Me" for his grandparents. It warms my heart to hear him sing that song and especially when I see how proud they are of him.

The Expanding diet of a Toddler

We had a great evening last night when BoBo & JoJo came over for dinner and a visit. For those of you that don't understand the names, let me explain.

My brother and his wife (I am still getting used to saying that!) are fondly referred to at our house as BoBo and JoJo. Jody was referred to as JoJo by her first nephew and it just continued through her life as an Aunt. Since the name Brandon was so hard for an early talker to pronounce, Brandon just kinda received the name BoBo when Gavin started talking. Being his cool self, he has been a very good sport about it, only making a few comments about having the same name as a clown.

Anyway, they came to visit and were introduced to some new things in our home including the legendary, super speedy Race Car Bed. Do you have any doubt why we think Gavin has the coolest Aunt JoJo?? It was a raining cold and yucky day here weather-wise, so besides our daily outing to the Y, Gavin & I decided to stay at home today. We did some much needed housework and being the typical Two-year-old Gavin decided that he would give Mom some help.
Yes, that is the bottom tray of the dishwasher and yes, it is in the Living Room floor. Need I say more. . .

Now to explain and expand on the Title of my entry today. In the past couple days my son has started eating some more "grown up" foods. Dave & I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him expand his menu and eating skills. Last night he had fajitas with the rest of us and the past couple days he has developed a new liking for corn-on-the-cob, which he fondly refers to as "popcorn".

Now if we could just teach his Father to learn some manners when he eats. . .

Yes Dave, you may have the rest of the Banana Pudding, but please put in on your plate instead of eating out of the serving bowl!

The best part of our day: Would have to include one of the profound statements made by my Toddler today. While eating dinner tonight and having the typical discussion of our day Gavin pipes up and announces "Daddy, it's raining wet!". Yes son, it is raining wet. Outdoor play will have to wait.

Doggy Days

This post is kinda "late" but I just got some cute pics from my dear friend Jill and I wanted to share them.

Gavin was invited to a party for one of his bestest buds on Saturday. It was Piper's 2nd Birthday Party and it was a Dog Party! Of course, dogs are one of Gavin & Piper's favorite things! Jill (Piper's Mom) did a great job with the party, she' s a natural party planner. She's actually the one that came up with the "Fantasy Land" party idea for Gavin last year. She did a "Dog Party" for Piper and invited the local Dalmation Recue!! Everyone had a great time.

Gavin eating (or not eating because he's so excited) a hotdog. The Birthday girl blowing out her candle--needed a little help from Mom.
Here's Gavin & Piper with the "special guests"
Thanks again for a great time Piper!!

Another Funny Toddler Moment

OK, you know my son got "Big Boy Underwear" for Easter and he is obsessed with them. Wants to wear them anyway but the "correct" way. He is not in ANY way interested in wearing them correctly. Today we got close though. He wanted them on, but over his clothes. Hey, at least they are not on his head anymore!
Oh the laughs we have at the expense of our children. . .

Spring Break Begins!

Well what a fun day today!
It's the first day of SPRING BREAK and Mommy has taken the whole week off! Yippee!!
We went for a playdate with our friends Dana & Maggie today. Maggie & Gavin play very well together and it gives us Mommies some "catch up" adult time!

We had a great time with McDonalds Happy Meals and Outside play. . .all was well until Gavin decided to throw dirt in Maggies face :o( Sorry Maggie!! The unpredictability of a Toddler. . .

Here's some pics Gavin wants to share from our day. . .

Me & My Friend Maggie

This is before my "uncontrollable dirt problems" began. . .

Chasing Bubbles!

Maggie has the coolest play house! It has a real doorbell!

We raced down the hill from the garden. I probably could have run faster if I had put down the ball!!

Easter 2007

Well we are having a great Easter so far and I wanted to go ahead and share some pics with you.
The Big Bunny came by last night and left lots of goodies for Gavin. Dad's sure some of that candy was left for him too, so he's been helping out with some of that!
Daddy's letting me eat Peanut Butter eggs for breakfast! This is so cool!!
The Bunny left Gavin a Chef BBQ set and he thinks he's the next "Emeril"! He also left some yummy pretend wooden food. . .
And Gavin got some "Big Boy Underwear" from the Bunny, but apparently got it confused with the Chef's hat. What is it about Boys and their underwear??
Time to get ready for Church. . .we love Church!!

After a fun morning at Church we went to lunch with Nanny, Paw Paw, Mimi Poff, Aunt Teresa, Uncle Donnie, Bo-Bo (Uncle Brandon), JoJo (Aunt Jody), MeeMee Judy, Harry, Carol, Matt & Trish. We had a great time!! Gavin loves his family!!
